Dallas Environmental Science Academy, affectionately known as DESA, serves approximately 440 students in grades 6 - 8.   All students take 2 science courses every year and can receive up to 7 high school credits.  DESA was most recently ranked the sixth best middle school in Texas by US News. 

Students applying to our magnet program must meet eligibility requirements.

Math - 437 (38th) Reading- 516 (39th)

OR

Any of the following sets of MAP Reading AND Math scores: 

School Year: 2021-2022  o 2022 Middle-of-Year (MOY) Reading and Math MAP o 2022 End-of-Year (EOY)Reading and Math MAP  School Year: 2022-2023 o 2022 Beginning-of-Year (BOY) Reading and Math  Score must be in the 40th Percentile

Students without a STAAR, MAP, or other approved standardized test scores and not enrolled at a Dallas ISD school can contact the magnet school of choice to schedule a test date. There is a $100 test fee for students residing outside the Dallas ISD boundaries.
